When searching the Paragon Tax system, remember that “less is more.”   The following tips will help make it easier to find the right tax id for your listing:

WHEN SEARCHING FOR A KNOWN ADDRESS:
In most cases it’s  best to search the “Address” field by entering simply the house numbers “1234” and the street name (or even just the first few letters of the street name).   DO NOT try to enter the street suffixes (such as St., Dr., Ave., etc.)  For example, if we are searching for a property at 1234 Anystreet Avenue, we would want to search the tax database for an address of  1234 Anystreet or even 1234 Anystr as a partial.

WHEN SEARCHING BY AN OWNER NAME:
Names will be listed in “LastName, Firstname” order, so when searching it is best to use the following search format when searching the Owner field:  LastName*FirstName.   The *  is a wild-card character that might help us find records where the last name might include suffixes like “Sr. Jr. or III.”  For example, if we are looking for a property owner named “Elvis Presley” you would want to enter Presley*Elvis or even a partial first name such as Presley*Elv may be enough to find the record.   In situations where you are searching for the Tax ID of a condo (where several properties may have the same physical address) adding a criteria for owner name can help find the specific record.

PARISHES CAN HELP LIMIT NUMBER OF MATCHES:
Because the Paragon tax database contains tax assessment record for ALL PARISHES withing our MLS’s jurisdiction, adding a criteria for a Parish/County name can help reduce the number of matches to a Tax Search.   Parish names will need to be spelled out such as East Baton Rouge or Ascension or West Feliciana when entering those criteria in the tax search form.

WHEN ENTERING NEW CONSTRUCTION:
It is possible if you are working with a listing that is new construction or a resub that may result in new lots being created than an existing tax record may not be available for entering an ID.  If no tax id is available for your listing you should simply enter the word NEW into the tax id field.
